Prayer for the Peace/ For You and I CD Packaging Design

"With shaky nerves and unmapped fears, I recorded some songs: five for an EP and one as a single release. This musical experience turned out to be very pleasant and instructive. So, with newly acquired confidence, I tackled the problem of packaging these audios with attractive, informative wraps.

And thus began my descent into photoshop hell: tints that bled, fonts that refused to font as instructed, proofs that were swallowed by “SAVE” demons, tutorials that led into territory completely alien to the page they represented.

While I was barely treading water and looking for a lifeboat, I remembered Linda Studley’s sweet, whimsical art: the disc sleeve for her and Bill’s Christmas album. It was colourful, joyful, well-organized and totally in tune with the recorded material. The price quoted was very reasonable, so I gathered my sackful of assorted problems, wishes, photographs, lists, texts and gratefully unloaded the whole thing on her coffee table.…Next to the teapot; and we discussed the whole mess in detail.

Linda is a genius at molding photographs to fit the particular template. She is familiar with more fonts than I knew existed. She also had some very good ideas and suggestions about pictures, wording, logos and icons to be added, moved or changed. She really has an eye for detail. She kept me out of jail by making sure I had the right permissions, the necessary legal graphics, and that the text was readable and fitted the particular subject and printing area.

The result was two audio packages rendered much better than my imagined ones, and with lovely and clever twists I would never have thought of. I am so extremely pleased; my face hurts from smiling. Thank you very much Linda! "
